An overdraft occurs when you write a check, use a debit card or ATM card in a transaction, or make an automatic bill payment for an amount greater than the balance in your First State Bank and Trust checking account.
Overdraft protection is a standard service we offer to account holders who have had an open account with us for 30 days or more that remains in good standing. With overdraft protection, if you use your checking account and routing number to pay an automatic bill, or write a check, but don’t have sufficient funds in your account to cover the transaction, we will allow the transaction to go through.1
Fees assessed when ODP is used:
ODP limits: $1500 ODP is available for business accounts2 that have been opened for 30 days or more and remain in good standing.
Definition of ODP:The item will be paid and will not be returned to the merchant, but you will still need to bring your account to a positive balance to avoid additional fees.
1We pay overdrafts at our discretion, which means we do not guarantee that we will always authorize and pay any type of transaction.
2Not all accounts are eligible for ODP coverage. Please contact us if you would like to know the status of your OPD coverage.
We offer a variety of different banking services to better assist our customers. Fees may apply to the following services. Please see our Fee Schedule for more information.
